It is very unfortunate what happened to the NMSU Grad student this past week. Looking at the meaning of theory, theory is based on a situational basis. An example of this is what happened to the student, because what one theorizes about her death will not be the same for another similar situation that occurs. Theory attempts to explain every single aspect in our lives, and we must understand that we must be able to validate a theory in order for it to be credible, but not necessarily true.
Reading other people's journals and talking amongst friends, I see how one's personal beliefs and biasis reflect the way one theorizes about a particular situation. For example, some people from their own personal experiences and life will theorize that she knew her murderer, others will say that it was a random abduction and she was at the wrong place at the wrong time, others will theorize that she prompted her attack. The reality is that on one knows the real answer and that is exactly why we have theory, as an attempt to answer the answerable.
